The history of the Plougastel-Daoulas Casino

Brigitte and Jean-Pierre have been welcoming you for several years in the gîte which they have renovated on the site of the former "Casino" café.

This café was a popular place to live in the village both for the place and for the master of the place: Job Calvès also called "Job an Arvor". Why was it called the casino? We don't seem to know.

This former fisherman, a true local figure, welcomed his customers with a towel over his shoulder. The regulars were received as friends, as for the "foreigners", they had to be accepted, but this was easy in this place where human warmth reigned.

Even today, Job watches over his casino thanks to his statue which sits proudly at the entrance to the property. And don't worry, "foreigners" have since been welcomed as friends ;-)
